Country music star Cody Johnson has once again demonstrated his commitment to the Western way of life through his music and philanthropic efforts. The 2nd Annual Cody Johnson Charity Golf Tournament, held during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas on Dec. 8, 2024, raised an impressive $298,000 for multiple charities. The event was presented by Wrangler and Resistol and organized by Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation.
Twenty-eight golf teams participated in the tournament, which combined a day of golfing and an auction to generate funds for three impactful organizations: Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation, the Different Day Foundation, and Wrangler’s Bucking Cancer initiative.
“For me, when you get an opportunity like this to give back, it’s a big deal,” said Cody Johnson during his speech at the event. “When you have a driving force, like these brands behind you, it’s hard not to step up and make a difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone involved.”
The Different Day Foundation, founded by Brandi and Cody Johnson, empowers and supports women as they heal from exploitation, providing them with the tools and resources needed to rebuild their lives.
Dedicated to bringing joy to children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation gifts cowboy hats, symbolizing strength and resilience, to children across the country.
Supporting a variety of cancer-related 501(c)(3) charities tied to rodeo and Western events, Wrangler’s Bucking Cancer program chose to benefit the Golden Circle of Champions for this tournament. This organization assists children with pediatric cancer and their families.
Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation kicked off the event with a $25,000 donation to the Golden Circle of Champions.
In a special moment during the tournament at the live auction, Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation, in partnership with the Cody NesSmith Memorial Team Roping, presented the Wolff family from Louisiana with a check for $80,000 to cover the cost of a new van for their son, Bennet, who is living with a rare medical condition.
“We are honored and blessed to be part of a group that can provide financial support to deserving families and organizations,” said Daren Peterson, President of Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation.
The Cody Johnson Charity Golf Tournament is quickly becoming a standout annual event, blending golf and Western lifestyle with meaningful philanthropy. With the combined efforts of Cody Johnson, Resistol, Wrangler, and Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care Foundation, this tournament highlights the power of community and commitment to giving back.
Days after the tournament, on Dec. 12, 2024, Resistol’s Cowboys Who Care board members Daren Peterson, Pete Carr, and Billy Bob Brown visited Sunrise Children’s Hospital to meet young patients facing cancer and other related medical challenges. During the heartfelt visit, they handed out 50 Resistol cowboy hats to children, their families and hospital staff. Country singer Cash Black added a special touch by playing his guitar during the visits.
