DIAMOND-selling superstar Brian Kelley teams with Mississippi singer-songwriter Tyler Pigg for a full-throttle throwdown today (3/14), dropping the Country-Rap collaboration “Pedal to Metal 2.0.” Delivered independently, listen here.
A backwoods banger of rural pride, the chest-thumping new song is a remix of Pigg’s original solo-penned “Pedal to Metal,” which Kelley instantly loved after Pigg reached out to share it online. An up-and-coming talent welding fearless Rap swagger to the gritty edge of Country tradition, a bond of mutual respect soon formed between the pair of Country disrupters, leading to a true roughneck rendition.
Fusing Pigg’s original lead-footed flow with Kelley’s chart-topping vocal and production by Trell Hudson, Trap beats and throbbing bass ride alongside a smooth electric guitar riff, with some authentic Florida twang added in. All about embracing who you are with no reservations, Kelley transforms the track into a hook-heavy anthem with a strutting fresh verse and chorus, conceived and created in less than 24 hours.
No stranger to taking chances and putting in the work to make something no one saw coming – both creatively, with his solo-written sophomore album Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son, or as a fearless entrepreneur launching multiple businesses including the Tribe Kelley Surf Post – “Pedal to Metal 2.0” sees him finding spur-of-the-moment inspiration, and going all in yet again.
Meanwhile, a Ben Christensen-directed music video captures the creative fun behind the tough-talker. Filmed on location in the Arizona desert, Kelley and Pigg match flashy ferocity (and crisp new suits) with a down-home dedication to living it up, in a fever dream of muscle cars and make-it-happen attitude.
“The music video encompasses the vibe of a ‘come up’ that is featured in Tyler’s music,” Kelley explains. “Playing two hardworking guys fixing cars, this clip combines a heart-pounding, pedal-to-the-floor pace, juxtaposed against a song that is about enjoying life in either the fast, or slow lane.”
Pigg adds, “We met up in Phoenix for the first time, and the vibes were nothing short of electric! We shot an epic video that we knew the record needed, and Ben had everything treated out to perfection. BK and I have bottled up this magic and are releasing it to the world, and Lord willing, there will be much more to come.”
The adventurous track follows the surprise release of Kelley’s live album and concert film, Surf Post Sessions Live, out late last month. Recorded over two nights in July 2024 in the backyard of Kelley’s Surf Post in Grayton Beach, FL (which he owns with his wife Brittney), the set captures the authentic sundown beach town feel of Kelley’s ongoing SURF POST SESSIONS with relaxed, back-to-basics energy, and the core-values charisma of a unique Country artist.
Hosting over 40 SOLD-OUT headline shows since starting the concert series in 2022, Kelley’s SURF POST SESSIONS SPRING BREAK 2025 kicks off tonight (3/14), ushering in another season of beachside balladry. With limited tickets remaining, upcoming vibe-focused shows include March 15, March 21, and March 22. Fans can purchase tickets here.
