Vince Neil’s private plane has been involved in a fatal accident at the Scottsdale Municipal Airport. The Motley Crue frontman’s Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashing into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona around 2:45 p.m. local time Monday, February 10th, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Four people were on board the Learjet and one person on board the Gulfstream. One person is dead while at least three others are injured.
“I can tell you we have five souls, one DOA, two immediate [critical condition patients] that have been transported to local trauma centers. One delayed [non-life threatening injuries] stable to a local hospital. This is still an active scene. We are still working on extricating one soul out of one of the airplanes,” Scottsdale Fire Captain Dave Folio says in a news conference. “This is still an active scene under investigation.”
The FAA has temporarily paused all flights into the airport. The FAA and NTSB will investigate with the NTSB leading.
We have confirmed that the Learjet, with tail number N81VN, is registered to the Franklin, Tennessee-based Chromed in Hollywood, Inc., an organization that names Neil as its President/Director.
It’s unclear if Neil was on the jet at the time of the accident. Attempts to reach Mr. Neil’s representatives were unsuccessful.
The incident is the latest in a string of aviation crashes that have impacted the US in recent weeks. The most notable occurred late last month when a passenger jet collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter while landing in Washington, DC, killing all 67 on board the two aircrafts.
