With fundraising still ongoing, proceeds raised from the FireAid benefit concert are expected to exceed $100 million. FireAid funds will support the Los Angeles-region’s immediate needs and long-term recovery from the recent wildfires made possible through the overwhelming generosity of those throughout Southern California and around the world. FireAid, which brought together more than 50 million viewers across 28 streaming platforms, featured moving performances from more than 30 artists at two venues, Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum. The estimated amount raised includes ticket sales for both venues, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and donations from the public including generous private gifts from the Azoff family, the Eagles, Andrew Hauptman and Ellen Bronfman Hauptman, and U2. Operating costs were offset by the LA Clippers. Steve and Connie Ballmer also matched every pledge made during the broadcast and VOD viewing of FireAid while Live Nation served as the production partner.
FireAid was the collaboration of Shelli, Irving, and the Azoff family, Live Nation, and the LA Clippers, with Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet, serving as executive producer and Rick Krim as talent producer. The presenting partners of FireAid were Kaiser Permanente, Live Nation, and Scopely, whose support helped inspire more than 50 brands to contribute to this critical cause including Diamond Partners – American Express, AT&T, Capital Group, Netflix, Snap Inc., U.S. Bank, UBS, Venmo and Visa Foundation. Gold Partners – AEG Presents, DIRECTV, Goldman Sachs, HBO, Intuit, Starbucks, YouTube and the Verizon Foundation. Silver Partners – CalHOPE, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, JPMorganChase, Salesforce, Schuman Family Foundation, SiriusXM, Sony Honda Mobility, Spotify, and TikTok.
Audiences were able to view FireAid and donate on 28 platforms, including Apple Music, AppleTV, DIRECTV, MyFree DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, and DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS, Disney+/Hulu, FanDuel, iHeartRadio, KTLA+, Max, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Netflix/Tudum.com, Paramount+/Pluto TV, Peacock/NBC News Now, Prime Video and the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch, SiriusXM’s exclusive “LIFE with John Mayer” channel, SoundCloud, TikTok, Veeps, X, and YouTube, along with select AMC Theatre and Regal Cinema locations nationwide. The stream is still available through these platforms.
The FireAid Grants Advisory Committee, composed of longtime LA-region philanthropic leaders with deep relationships in the non-profit community, have been working to identify key areas of need, for maximum impact. Led by the Annenberg Foundation, the committee has been listening daily to affected communities, assessing local resource gaps to ensure aid reaches those most in need, and researching the handling of other fire disasters, such as those in Maui and Northern California. The first phase of grants are expected to be awarded by mid-February.
