Emmy award-winning actor Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”) stars as Chuck in the new “Back in Action” movie on Netflix.
The cast features Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, Jamie Demetriou, Andrew Scott, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson.
The synopsis is: 15 years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, elite spies Emily (Cameron Diaz) and Matt (Jamie Foxx) find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.
Seth Gordon directed the movie from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Brendan O’Brien.
Chandler on what attracted him to this film
When asked about what attracted him to this movie, he responded, “Everyone’s got different reasons for choosing a project. This was one of those instances where I didn’t have to figure out why I wanted to be in it.”
“The question was, why wouldn’t I want to be involved? It’s got Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close. The whole deal was a no-brainer. It was a gift to be asked to be part of it,” he elaborated.
Chandler on what sets ‘Back In Action’ apart from other action movies
Chandler opened up about what sets “Back in Action” apart from other action films.
“There’s a lot of dystopian stories out there, or movies about crime and
murder, so it’s really nice to come across something that’s a little bit lighter
and has something for the whole family. And I love that aspect,” he explained.
“My kids are older now, but we loved going to the movies together and everyone could be involved in something at the same time. It’s rare,” he acknowledged.
Closing thoughts on ‘Back in Action’ film
For his fans and viewers, he remarked about the film, “It’s humorous, you’ve got Jamie and Cameron bringing to the table what you know only they can bring, and then you’ve got Seth Gordon directing it.”
“At the end of the day, the audience is going to get their money’s worth and this
will give them that without a doubt. It’s a big show,” he noted.
“The sets are huge, the action is huge — the stunt guys had their work cut out for them, for sure — and there’s a great story for the family, too,” he concluded.
