Black Sheep recording artist Matt Koerner spends a lot of time on the road crossing the country to perform for fans at venues from St. Louis to San Luis Obispo, and everywhere in between. The trips often take him far away from wife Lindsey, (a busy Anesthesiologist in her own right,) which means plenty of time spent trying to share and stay connected over the phone when the two have to be apart. That distance, and the utter joy a simple call can bring while being separated from the one you love, is the inspiration behind Matt’s moving new ballad, “Hear Your Smile, which is out at all digital providers today.  Listen HERE.

Written by Matt with Tim Baumgartner, Elise Anderson and Anna LaPrad, the sweetly devotional tune is sure to strike a chord with any couple who’s dealt with battling the distance that stands between them, and serves as a reminder that love truly can conquer all, even from 10,000 miles away.

“’Hear Your Smile’ is about talking to your significant other over the phone and when you hear them laugh, you can visualize that beautiful smile,” reflects Matt on the sweetly sentimental tune. “And I thought the idea of ‘hearing’ a smile over the phone was a neat one…but the coolest story I have about this song is that one of the co-writers, Tim Baumgartner, sent this song to a friend. That friend called Tim after listening and she said, ‘I love that new song you wrote, it reminds me of when I get to speak to my son over the phone, he is fighting in Afghanistan.’ It was a remarkable moment to see how a song could be interpreted in a different way than it was intended to be.”

The heartfelt new track, available everywhere now, is another reminder of the stirring power of music and how a simple song can touch someone in so many different ways and maybe even change someone’s life for the better.
