The 10th annual Rib Round Up was ended abruptly on Saturday night before the final two acts, Chris Janson and Dustin Lynch, could take the stage. Due to a LiveNation crew member suffering from a medical emergency at the iTHINK Financial Ampitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL.
The crew member, who was one of the spotlight operators high above the crowd, apparently suffered a heart attack just before Michael Ray took to the stage at around 6:50pm. He wasn’t discovered until about 7:45pm, shortly after Michael Ray had ended his set.
After a long delay in between sets, it appeared that the show would go on, as the following act, Chris Janson, was announced to the stage by 2 of the radio station DJ’s. But after about 20 minutes delay with the lights down waiting for the show to begin, the lights came back on and an announcement was made that the show was cancelled and could not go on due to a medical emergency.
WIRK New Country 103.1 says they were told by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office that the show could continue, but out of respect to the crew member’s family, the radio station decided to end the event at that time.
A Hubbard Radio spokesperson said, “There has been a medical emergency with a crew member that will not allow us to proceed with Rib Round Up. If you are at the show, we kindly ask that you proceed to exit the facility. Thank you.”
The crew member was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not known at this time if this event will be rescheduled at a later date.
