This year’s WJRR’s Earthday Birthday, number 26 to be exact, continued tradition of being an amazing day of great music from all different ends of the Rock genre. As the sun came up, hundreds of people were waiting in line to be some of the first to enter Central Florida Fairgrounds for a fun, music packed day. As the gates opened, fans rushed to get to the Bud Light Stage to see the opening act, Thunder Jack, an AC/DC cover band that didn’t disappoint. As the afternoon continued, bands such as Rivethead, Blue Stones, Eve to Adam, Glorious Sons, Bad Flower and Rival Sons graced the stage as fans traveled between both stages as bands went on one after another to keep the day action packed.
Another great offering, at WJRR’s Earthday Birthday this year, was the Service Experts Heating & A/C Chill Zone, an indoor stage where bands such as Breathing Theory, Messer, Savage After Midnight, Underoath and Shim performed acoustic sets while fans could cool off from the scorching 95 degree Florida heat. The sound was great for being a smaller room and the A/C was a most welcome treat.
As the music continued outside, more and more fans made their way through the gates to enjoy the day and pack the Central Florida Fairgrounds and witnessed performances from Atreyu, Motionless in White, P.O.D., Pop Evil and Underoath. By this time, the sun was finally starting to go down which was a welcome relief, just in time for the show’s co-headliner to take the stage. Three Days Grace who performed all of their hits such as “I Hate Everything About You,” “Pain,” “Riot,” and more. Their entire set was filled with energy from both the band and the crowd, which made for a great performance, and a great build up for the final band of the night.
Finally, it was time for Godsmack to take the stage, who opened their set with “When Legends Rise.” The crowd erupted as Shannon Larkin (Godsmack’s Drummer) took to the stage and played the opening drum solo for the song. Many hits were played such as “Bulletproof,” “Straight Out of Line,” “Awake,” and “I Stand Alone,” along with many others. The crowd was engaged throughout the entire set, singing along with just about every lyric of every song. Godsmack ended the night with their cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell,” which was a welcome surprise. Overall, the day was amazing and brought people of all walks of life together to enjoy the one thing we all love, music.
